As the population ages, the number of older adults is expected to rise substantially with a predicted 1.6 billion people over age 65 by 2050. Providing goal concordant care for older adults after an injury is critical given unintentional injuries are a leading cause of death for this demographic. Additionally, substantial health care costs are accrued due to trauma related injuries in older adults. The NYU Langone Interdisciplinary Palliative Care Conference 2024: Geriatric Trauma and Palliative Care will explore the partnership and implications of specialized Palliative Care involvement when treating Geriatric Trauma patients. |
