Sending Warm Wishes and a 2022 Recap

Posted over 2 years ago by Yusimi Sobrino Bonilla

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

2022 has been a phenomenal year for the Consortium and as I reflect on the accomplishments, I feel pride and joy at continuing to be part of this great community. The Consortium has continued to collaborate with community leaders to provide education and advocacy throughout the state. In April, we partnered with the New Jersey Healthcare Quality Institute and participated in a virtual community event, It’s Time to Have the Conversation of Your Life for National Healthcare Decisions Day. We returned to an in-person meeting in June with our “Picnic in the Park” at Watchung State Park and spent the afternoon reconnecting and re-energizing. We were fortunate to co-host the 5th annual conference: Innovations in Palliative Care with The Valley Hospital and feature Connie Dahlin as the keynote speaker. It was a successful first hybrid event with the introduction of poster presentations.

The NJPC APN Consortium has continued to promote legislative education and advocacy. The quarterly meetings hosted guest lecturers on topics such as the Advance Practice Joint Protocol and the Goals of Care Coalition of NJ legislative initiatives to increase home palliative care access in the state.

2022 witnessed the publication of the first annual report, an increase in membership, and continued financial stability. It has truly been a year full of activity and organizational development.

As my time as president ends, I reflect on the past 2 years and remain in awe at the strength and dedication the members have shown during the pandemic and the ongoing recovery. It is a testament to the group that we remained connected and have grown during these uncertain times.  I learned so much from each of you, and I truly appreciate the support over the past 2 years. It has been a privilege and an honor and such a wonderful experience.

I am delighted to pass the reigns to Ellen Davis, APN and the Board who remain committed to expanding palliative care education and access throughout the state.

All the Best in 2023,

Yusimi Sobrino-Bonilla, APN
